Catriona’s first short film I’m In Away From Here premiered in competition at the 65th Venice International Film Festival in 2008, and was nominated for a Bafta New Talent award the following year. Her second short, A Cuillin Rising, premiered at the 55th BFI London Film Festival in October 2011 and was nominated for the British Council Award for Best New Short at London Short Film Festival. The short she produced last year with Sigma Films, (Dropping Off Michael) has just been nominated for the Scottish Bafta for Best Short Film.
A participant at EIFF talent lab in 2012 and at Berlinale Talent Campus in February 2013, she was also one of the ten international filmmakers selected for the TIFF Talent Lab in September 2013, where she attended private master classes and screenings with filmmakers such as Anfonso Cuaron and Jean-Marc Vallée.
Following 2 years based at Sigma Films (Legend of Barney Thomson, Starred Up, Under the Skin) running JUMPCUT, a young talent initiative, Catriona is now back concentrating on her own work as a writer/director and is developing her first feature with the BFI.net and Scottish Film Talent Network.
She is also a part time lecturer on the BA Film course at Edinburgh Napier University and at Edinburgh College of Art.
