“Everything begins and ends at exactly the right time and place.”
― Joan Lindsay, Picnic at Hanging Rock
I love this quote from Joan Lindsay because it reminds me that I am exactly where I am supposed to be. It also helps me when I think about making work and writing for the screen, which can take its sweet time and that is okay.
The process is so beautiful and painful all at once. If I am honest, it’s ‘the moments of the making’ that I value most, like remembering the two nerdy pals walking awkwardly down the street towards me (future characters), or driving for miles around the east coast looking for a funfair location with a total stranger who just arrived from London (my first DoP), or standing on Torrin shore under an apocalyptic sky in deep despair yet feeling so connected to everything, when a shoot was shut down due to an accident.
I get so excited by working with talented screenwriters and other creatives, even if they wouldn’t dare describe themselves as that! I am truly inspired by the magic I see in people and all the complex and resonant stories I see clambering to the surface when we start chatting, which may be long before we get to the ideas.
I offer mentoring that begins and ends with YOU, at exactly the right time and place (for you):
- To explore your unique characters, their worlds and define their journey.
- To find freedom and flow in your creativity by letting go of expectations and trusting your intuition.
- To plan next steps, whatever stage you are in your journey and career.
